Simple Yoga moves for PostNatal by internationally renowned yoga instructor, Shiva Rea.


Postnatal Yoga strengthens muscles taxed in delivery, relaxes stiffness from carrying baby, and helps ease the stress of sleep deprivation and other postnatal life changes.

Shiva Rea teaches vinyasa flow yoga worldwide.


She has studied many forms of yoga and dance in India, Africa, Nepal, Jamaica, and Bali.


She is a well-known contributor to Yoga Journal and holds an MA in Dance from UCLA's World Arts and Cultures Program, where she also teaches.

Focusing on muscles used in labour, delivery and whilst caring for the baby and is based on Shiva's own experience as well as working with other mums.

The exercises help to regain strength and flexibility, relax over worked muscles nourish and empower mind and spirit, and become strong at your own pace.

"Buddha Bellies is a nurturing, informative and relaxing pregnancy yoga DVD. It is also, in my view, a crucial step towards achieving an active birth.

I did the intermediate session (a handy 45 mins) every day for the last six weeks of my pregnancy and I m sure it was a major component in my achieving the birth I wanted - in water, without any medical intervention.

I think Nicole is that rare thing in pregnancy yoga - someone who really knows her stuff but who wears her knowledge lightly, always putting the postures first. I can t recommend this DVD more highly."

 


It is useful to have some hatha yoga experience to ensure correct posture work when practicing this DVD however instructions are complete and easy to follow.

This DVD has 3 sections for beginners to intermediate and more advanced levels which can also be declined for 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

The routines are similar in the 3 sections with additional poses for the more advanced levels. The instructions are clear and what I enjoyed most is that there is silent time for breathing which gives you the opportunity to turn inward and work your home practice without feeling like you are following a DVD.
