Notes from the Teacher

My interest in Yoga and Health began when I was in India . I had a weaker spine (thoracic part). At dinner time, my family used to remind me of my poor posture. This led me to think about some form of exercise to correct the spinal alignment. Yoga was the obvious choice! At the age of 18, I took up traditional Yoga class at temple in Gujarat state. As I also had deeper interest in health, I practiced Yoga regularly, and it became part of my life. 30 years on, it is still with me in the UK.

From my knowledge of Physiology and Biochemistry, I actively sought to modify the practice of ‘Hatha Yoga’, which I started to teach in 1990’s at local schools, leisure centres, health centres, and private classes in the UK .

10 years ago, stiffness started to build up in my neck, spine, and joints. Today, all my joints are supple, and spinal strength greater than ever before, and spinal alignment much better. Regular practice together with life style changes helped relieve the stiffness!

As I became aware of the effects of modern life on health, I took positive steps in altering my lifestyle. It is collective action that has brought peace, health and happiness that I always craved for! From my collective experience over many years, this training DVD was produced with the hope that it will help many people learn the true art of Yoga as envisaged by the ancient Indians (yogis). I wish you good luck with the Yoga, and hope it’ll bring you true happiness, inner peace, good health and joy in your life!
