Restorative Yoga is a form of therapeutic Yoga that helps balance the active and passive energies within us. A very active Yoga practice sometimes known as Yang Yoga should be balanced with the practice of more passive and restorative Yoga postures. If you do not practice Yoga and lead an active life, pushing yourself hard in all areas of your life, no doubt, you can benefit from some Yin Yoga too.

Description

Restorative Yoga Workshop

Restorative Yoga combines simple breathing exercises, relaxation and visualisation to help reduce anxiety, fear and stress levels, all known to have a negative impact on the body. Postures are usually seated or reclined and the body is supported by props to allow space to take place. Physical space in the body can help create mental space or a clarity of mind that is bought therapeutic and healing.

We will focus on:

  • Gently mobilise areas of tension in the body such as hips and lower back; or shoulders and upper back
  • Practice supported poses when the body can undo and let go, creating space
  • Promote self-healing on a physical and mental/neurological basis
  • Include some detoxifying twists and some calming forward bends
  • Enjoy a delicious full Relaxation

  2. Jacquie moulder

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Laurence gauged it beautifully and welcomed us perfectly with herbal tea and a description of what we would be doing and the techniques employed. I left feeling so: like I had been given permission to relax and be restored. Thank you so much. I’m looking forward to the next workshop.

  3. Marion

I really enjoyed this workshop and the style of teaching. I felt very relaxed and at peace with myself. The class was aimed at all different levels and was guided into different positions. I particular liked the meditation I felt so relaxed. I will definitely look to do more workshops in the new year and also want to sign up for a beginners class. Thank you.

  4. Melissa

I really enjoyed this workshop, I felt very calm and restored afterwards. The postures were very relaxing and using the bolsters to hold you in position allowed you to completely let go, the time flew by. I would definitely do another one.

This was my first time at any sort of Yoga class. This restorative class was just thing for me. The meditation side of this class was great ,Very relaxed and enjoyable. The benefits I felt afterwards were not what I was expecting. It led me into a very calm and enjoyable day. Will definitely be coming back, and look forward to doing some different classes too.
