Yoga For Back Pain Course

Practice a range of postures to improve strength and mobility in the back. Each Yoga for Back Pain class includes key postures (asana) which help to improve posture, develop strength in the back and to increase mobility. Guidance will be given for postures which can be safely practised at home between classes. Students will also be taught breathing techniques (pranayama) which enhance mental and physical well being and a range of different relaxations designed to ease physical and mental tension in the body.

Objectives
Introduce students to the wonderful potential that yoga has to enhance the body’s natural healing process.
Help Students understand how they can manage their back pain on the path to recovery.
To gain maximum benefit, students should be prepared to devote some time between sessions to practise the techniques taught in class.

Who’s it for?
Yoga for Back Pain is an eight week course aimed at people who experience pain or stiffness in their back.
The course is suitable for those with yoga experience and those who have never practised before.

Prerequisites
No experience required. Osteopathy or Chiropractor referrals suitable.
Whilst we can provide general guidance and advice to help students practise safely, it is up to each student to take responsibility for their own body and decide for themselves whether they are well enough to attend the Yoga for Back Pain class.

    Highly recommended!!! It was truly enjoyable well structured course with lots of the home practice which I still do from time to time. I’ve regained my confidence, learnt about the right posture and breathing techniques. It was nice follow up to the beginners course while learning to respect your own limits. My lower back issues as well as carpal tunnel syndrome completely vanished. This was much more then just a course.

    As an older lady never having attended a yoga class, I thought this would be a good start, especially as I have been a back pain sufferer for many years. The class was well structured, easy to follow, I learned new breathing techniques and it made me feel very good. If one does the exercises regularly, they really help with mobility and I shall endeavor to carry on learning and improving my physical well being.
